UAE Turning 42!
The United Arab Emirates standing as one strong united force
for 42 years now and being home to many expat residents from different
countries cultures and diversities. This is truly a global village; a real fast
paced developing country!
Aren’t we all equally excited about the 42nd national day
just round the corner? Irrespective of whether a national or an expatriate, for
each and every one this is the time to unite as one to enjoy and take pride in
this prestigious country. We are all eagerly looking forward to the amazing
events that will enlighten us during this occasion. Let’s have a sneak peek
into the events
Abu Dhabi:
13 fireworks displays - at seven Abu Dhabi sites (Abu Dhabi
Corniche, Yas Island, Khor Al Maqtta, Al Ain, Madinat Zayed, Delma Island and
Sila) and a total of 63,410 shots fired during the National Day weekend, enjoy
mega celebrations and a blockbuster emirate-wide programme.
Abu Dhabi Corniche
A 12-minute fireworks show will run at Abu Dhabi Corniche on
December 1st and 2nd at 9pm.The Corniche will also come alive with a mammoth
activity plan of entertainment and games to engage all families and
nationalities and the Emirates Heritage Club will mount additional attractions
at its Corniche Breakwater Heritage Village, which will be open from 9am until
10pm on December 2nd. In addition to its usual attractions, there will be a
traditional market and handicraft demonstrations of leatherware, glassware and
knife production. The club will also have a traditional rowing boat available
to take up to 10 people at a time on a trip along the Corniche. The trips will
be free and run every half hour from 4.3pm until 7pm.
Yas Island
December 2nd will see thousands of cars decorated in the
colours of the UAE national flag gather to bid for entry into the Guinness
World Records. The parade route will start at du Forum, Yas Island, and cover
more than 3.5 kilometres. A three-minute
fireworks show will bring to a close the Yas Island National Day parade
celebrations at 8pm. A free-to-attend concert with an Arab singing star will be
held in du Forum, after the fireworks display. Details of the star performer
will be announced shortly.
Khor Al Maqta
Three-minute shows will run on December 1st and 2nd at Khor
Al Maqta – in front of the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr hotel with firing at 8.30pm.
The show will spread out across the water to be visible to people dining out at
the hotels and the souk, which flank the channel.
Al Ain
In Abu Dhabi’s heritage heartland, 10 minute shows will run
at 8.30pm on December 1st and 2nd at Hili Fun City, with entry to the park
being free. Also planned for the weekend is the Al Ain Aerobatic Show which
takes off at Al Ain International Airport from November 30 – December 2 and
will have the Oasis City’s biggest on-ground family entertainment extravaganza.
Al Gharbia
In the Western Region, seven-minute shows will run at 8.30pm
on December 1st and 2nd in Madinat Zayed
and on Delma Island, and three-minute shows will run at 8.30 pm in Sila on
December 1st and 2nd.
Motorists violating
an Abu Dhabi Police guideline for car decoration and car parades during
National Day celebrations will attract hefty penalties including confiscation
of cars, a Dh1,000 fine and 12 black points.
